Changes to current Residential Zones
These reforms will provide greater clarity while reflecting the aspirations of Victorians.
The current residential zones are:
Residential 1 Zone, Residential 2 Zone, Residential 3 Zone, Township Zone, Low Density Residential Zone and Mixed Use Zone.
New Residential Zones
Residential Growth Zone (RGZ), General Residential Zone (GRZ) and Neighbourhood Residential Zone (NRZ); The current Mixed Use Zone will be improved. Some of the key changes supported are as follows;
- Setting a mandatory building height of 8m in NRZ
- improved purpose statements for the zones
- testing draft criteria to guide application of the new zones
- restricts non-residential uses in NRZ and RGZ
- allows small scale complimentary commercial uses in RGZ
